During 2024, monthly bacteriological sampling from the Ohio Match system revealed the wells supplying the system were subject to bacteriological contamination. We moved fast to notify customers and incorporate temporary disinfection measures to ensure the water was safe to drink. The District then obtained property easement to run a water main from our Chilco Service Area to supply customers on the Ohio Match system with a safe supply of water that does not require treatment. The water main was constructed by District staff with engineering oversight, resulting in significant construction cost savings.
